still waiting

I'm still waiting to hear from the job that I accepted. I was supposed to hear back no later than 7 days ago. I still have yet to hear anything. I have emailed (last week), called (last week) and left a voicemail (today) for one individual; the other individual is still on vacation. I have no other contact information for anyone else. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do, but I am more than a little freaked out that I may have to relocate and start work by next Monday, but don't know it yet; or that somehow my paperwork got dropped behind a bookshelf somewhere and no one cares about me or my employment any longer.

So my question is, how long do I wait before I just start looking for another job? I'm really wondering what the hell else I am supposed to do right now, short of hopping on a plane, then getting in a cab, and marching directly into the office, chaining myself to a desk until someone agrees to tell me what is going on.

Perhaps now I know how some clients feel about their attorneys.

Having worked in an office where they did shit like that (losing an a new employee file) you MUST talk to someone in management that knows what the hell is going on.

At the very least you should talk to someone in Human Resources (for the county AND the office) to get an answer.

Don't let office morons push it off on someone else telling you that you have to wait until Joe Schmo comes back from vacation!

Oh and good idea on the word verification...the blog spammers were driving me crazy!
