I just tell people I went to Harvard. I do this early and often throughout a conversation. I'll be like, "My name is Coon, and I went to Harvard." Then I'll be like, "Yeah, I saw that football game on Saturday, it reminded me of the time I was in Cambridge at Harvard." I don't mess around with name dropping all the books I'm reading. People are morons. I also think it's funny that the people in your "state" think they're intellectually elite, or elite in anything, for that matter. The old school board election for a 100,000 person town is a joke. Just ask S, or the man who ran--and won--and served a couple of terms--who was retarded. His actually was homeless, too, I believe, and his "office" was a table at a local bar.

I've been hearing a lot of Roosevelt's biography-type conversations, and I have to admit I may even start some... but it's not because I'm trying to sound all intellectual and impress people. It's because I'm a nerd and I get excited over thing I read. (Besides, I'm a law student. Who am I going to impress? My classmates, in general, are MUCH smarter than me.)

Obviously I wasn't there, so I don't know whether it was vapid or not, but the Guiness record thing sounds like a fun cocktail party fact.
